ASHDOWN, Ark. — Three Ashdown residents have been charged with breaking a federal law that protects archaeological artifacts.
Court documents show Christopher Castle, Lauren Bailes and Callie Neher are charged with violating the Archaeological Resource Protection Act at Millwood Lake near Ashdown. Castle faces two counts while Bailes and Neher each face one count.
Each have pleaded not guilty.
The documents do not specify what the three allegedly did. Spokeswoman Joyce Snow for the U.S. Attorney's Office told the Texarkana Gazette that she can't provide further details.
The documents allege Castle and Bailes committed the crimes April 15, 2013, and that Castle and Neher committed the crimes five days later.
