ORANGE YOU LOVELY

Fashions hit Benton runway to model aid for MS Society

A pop of orange, the signature color of the National MS Society, was the common thread seen throughout the Orange You Lovely Fashion Show on July 26 at the Benton Event Center.

With accessories or clothing in shades from coral to burnt orange, women and a few children modeled fashions by 312 Downtown Boutique of Benton. The colorful outfits were presented by models who have MS, family members, caregivers and fundraising team captains.

Before the runway show, four awards were given to volunteers. High school senior Melanie Griffey of Maumelle received a scholarship and the Rising Star Volunteer Award and Jennifer Godwin received the Mission Mover Volunteer Award for her work with Walk MS, which last year raised $110,000. The Leadership Volunteer Award was given to Julie Cawthron, who recently was named the national volunteer of the year, and Central Arkansas Christian School Pleasant Valley received the School of the Year Award for its fundraising efforts.

Also honored at the event were scholarship recipients Jordyn Pullium and Payton Efurd of Fort Smith and Taylor Watson of Sherwood.

Marla Murphy and Judith Martinez were co-chairmen of the event and Jason Pederson served as master of ceremonies. Money raised supports MS Society programs, services and research.
