Delight teen killed after SUV runs off road, strikes tree

A Delight teenager was killed Sunday night after he was ejected from his sport utility vehicle after overcorrecting on a curve, authorities say.

The accident occurred about 7:30 p.m. as Kirklin H. Nolen, 19, was driving his 2002 Chevrolet SUV south on Arkansas 195, at mile marker 3, in Pike County, an Arkansas State Police report states.

Nolen was thrown from the vehicle after it ran off the road and went into a ditch and struck a tree, police say. Road conditions were described as dry and the weather clear at the time of the accident.

His death marked the 254th in a traffic crash on Arkansas roads so far in 2014, according to preliminary figures.
