Man shot outside Stop-N-Go in LR

Police are searching for the suspect in a shooting that occurred Sunday afternoon.

Ezekulum Lewis, 35, was shot at 2 p.m. at Stop-N-Go & Deli, 1817 S. Woodrow St., said police spokesman Sgt. Cassandra Davis. His condition was unavailable Sunday night.

Davis said the gunman may have fled the scene in a blue SUV. Police did not know of any motive.

About 3:30 p.m., a portion of the street in front of Stop-N-Go was roped off, and police and crime scene investigators were present. A silver Toyota Camry with its back windshield busted out was in the parking lot north of the store. Evidence markers were placed on and around the car.

Someone living nearby said a man with the nickname "Zeke" was sitting in his car when someone shot him several times. A witness said the victim was taken away in an ambulance.

Police arrest 2 menon robbery charges

Two men were arrested Saturday in connection with an aggravated robbery that occurred earlier in the day, according to police.

Shots were fired during a robbery at an unknown location Saturday, according to an arrest report. About 3:30 p.m., police located a Cadillac Escalade they suspect was used in the robbery, and officers arrested its occupants after a brief chase along Kanis Road.

According to the report, police found ammunition and five guns in the Escalade: a 9mm Glock, .22 caliber Davis, defaced 9mm Smith & Wesson, a stolen .223 caliber Kel-Tec and a stolen .45 caliber Taurus.

Couvoirsier Terrell Moragne, 23, of Maumelle and Alex Morris, 31, of Little Rock were arrested and booked into Pulaski County jail.

Moragne, the driver, was arrested on charges of aggravated battery, theft of property, theft by receiving, possession of a defaced firearm, fleeing, careless driving and failing to stop at a red light. Morris was arrested on charges of possession of a firearm, possession of a defaced firearm and theft by receiving.

Both men remained on the jail's roster Sunday evening. Their bail had not been set.

1 is hospitalized, charged after fight

A Little Rock man was hospitalized and later arrested after a fight Saturday, according to an arrest report.

A witness told police that Kenneth Barbee, 41, struck 61-year-old Otis Madison on the head with a hammer. Barbee was also struck on the head with a hammer during the fight, and he was taken to UAMS Medical Center, police said.

After Barbee was released from the hospital Saturday evening, he was arrested on a charge of battery in the first degree -- a Class B felony.

Barbee was booked into Pulaski County jail, and his bail was set at $25,000. He was not on the jail's roster Sunday.

Madison's condition is unknown.

Police: Drugs found in vehicle at base

A man entering Little Rock Air Force Base was arrested on a charge of drug possession Sunday, according to an arrest report.

Rodrick Pierce, 29, of Greenbrier, was attempting to enter the base through the back gate on Arnold Drive when someone at the checkpoint smelled marijuana coming from his vehicle, the report said. A base security officer and Jacksonville police were dispatched to the location about 1:30 p.m.

According to police, marijuana and rolling papers were found in the vehicle. Pierce purportedly admitted to the security officer that he and his sister were smoking marijuana on the way to the base, according to an arrest report.

Pierce was booked into Pulaski County jail on a charge of possession of marijuana. His bail was set at $1,000, and he remained on the jail's roster Sunday evening.

Theft of computers leads to arrest of 1

A Little Rock man was arrested Sunday in the theft of two computers from a Wal-Mart, according to police.

An off-duty detective was working as security at Wal-Mart on 4450 E. McCain Blvd. in North Little Rock, when he said he saw a man take two computers, place them in a shopping cart and leave the store without paying, according to an arrest report. The value of the computers was $1,247.

David Chessner, 33, was arrested just before noon Sunday on a charge of theft of property. His bail was set at $5,000, and he was not listed on the jail's roster Sunday evening.
