Little Rock officials announced Wednesday that the Acme Motel will be closed down by 5 p.m. Friday after a recent safety inspection revealed "numerous code violations."

The Little Rock Fire Department on July 31 conducted a safety inspection of the motel, located at 3301 W. Roosevelt Road, and found several violations, "resulting in a hazardous environment and unsanitary living conditions," the city said in a statement.

“The hazards in this complex represent a threat to all occupants, emergency responders and the citizens of Little Rock,” Fire Department Chief Gregory Summers said in a statement. “The assessment prompted our recommendation to close down the facility and prevent occupancy until all code requirements are satisfied.”

Current occupants have 48 hours to vacate, officials said.

City staff will be available Thursday and Friday to assist occupants who need help relocating.

The Little Rock Police Department will increase surveillance of the area while members of the city's Department of Housing and Neighborhood Programs secure the facility, officials said.
