State police report on 2 fatal crashes

A man was killed in a two-vehicle crash in Pottsville late last month, the Arkansas State Police reported Monday.

Justin Chessher, 24, was driving a Suzuki motorcycle west on West Ash Street at Pisgah Road on July 27. About 4:53 p.m., a Chevrolet pickup entered the intersection after stopping at a stop sign. Chessher was traveling fast and struck the rear of the pickup.

He was taken to St. Mary's Regional Medical Center and pronounced dead.

A passenger on the motorcycle, Nellie Chessher, 22, and the driver of the pickup, John Bryant, 17, were hospitalized.

State police also reported Monday that a man had died in a single-vehicle crash in Jacksonville in June.

Cody Baggett, 21, was driving south on First Street at Burroughs Street on June 8. Shortly before 12:30 a.m., his Mazda MX6 ran off the road and struck a utility pole. The car then rolled over multiple times.

Baggett was thrown out and pronounced dead at the scene.

Conditions were clear and dry when both crashes occurred, according to the state police.
