Woman accused of trying to run over ex-boyfriend

A Bigelow woman is accused of trying to run over her ex-boyfriend during an altercation Tuesday in Pulaski County.

Akanna Cherry, 27, was arrested about 6:30 p.m. on a charge of aggravated assault.

The Pulaski County sheriff's office says deputies responded to investigate a disturbance between Cherry and her ex-boyfriend at his home on Roland Cutoff Road in Roland.

According to a report, the ex-boyfriend said the two were arguing when Cherry punched him in the face, slapped his chest and "then got into her vehicle and attempted to run him over in his yard." The ex-boyfriend fled to his front porch and was not hit by the vehicle, the report noted.

Cherry, who police noted had her children in the car at the time, was booked into the Pulaski County jail. She remained there Wednesday morning with bail not yet set.
