Baxter County officials and Arkansas State Police are investigating a one-vehicle accident Thursday afternoon that left one man injured and three law enforcement helicopters damaged.

Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery said the driver was southbound Arkansas 5 near the intersection with U.S. 62.

“Instead of turning, he just went straight through,” Montgomery said.

The driver crossed the intersection, drove into the parking lot of a business and “crashed off of the retaining wall,” he said.

The crash occurred near the sheriff’s office and damaged two of the agency's three helicopters.

Montgomery said the driver was taken to a local hospital with unspecified injuries.
