Rain, storms expected through weekend

Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected throughout the state starting Thursday afternoon and lasting through Saturday, according to the National Weather Service in Little Rock.

Severe weather chances are possible from central into northeast Arkansas on Thursday and in central and northern parts of the state on Friday, National Weather Service meteorologist John Robinson said in an email. The chances for severe weather will be mostly in north Arkansas on Saturday, Robinson said.

“Any severe weather will be isolated in nature,” the email states.

Robinson said more than an inch of rain could fall in less than an hour beneath the strongest storms, and while the affected areas will be small, some brief flooding could occur.
