Cleveland County highway work to shut lanes

Work on Arkansas 97, Arkansas 189 and Arkansas 35 in Cleveland County will require lane closures this month, the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department said Friday.

Crews will be resurfacing Arkansas 97 and 189 in Kingsland from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, highway officials said. The work on Arkansas 97 will extend west from U.S. 79 to School Street, and the Arkansas 189 work will run east from U.S. 79 to School Street, reducing traffic to one lane, the department said.

The following week, crews will be resurfacing Arkansas 35 north of Rison. Work will run south on Arkansas 35 from the Grant County line to U.S. 79 in Rison, reducing traffic to one lane between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Aug. 18-21, officials said.

Flaggers and warning signs will help guide traffic for both closures, highway officials said.
