GREENLAND — An Arkansas fire marshal says an elderly man who lived alone has been found dead after a house fire.

Washington County Fire Marshal Dennis Ledbetter told KHOG-TV that firefighters found the body at a residence that burned down Thursday. Authorities haven't released his name or age.

Ledbetter said firetrucks were too large to easily access the rural home. Firefighters had to use a chainsaw to cut through tree branches to get water to the fire.

Neighbors told authorities that the man usually kept to himself.
