Human Services renews contract with USDA to administer meals

LITTLE ROCK — The Department of Human Services has renewed its contract with the U.S. Department of Agriculture to continue administering the Special Nutrition Program for students in need.

The state agency has participated in the program since 1999.

The nutrition program provides reimbursement for well-balanced, nutritious meals served to individuals enrolled in the Child Care Food Program, National School Lunch Program, Special Milk Program and the Summer Food Service Program.

The program is available to public and private nonprofit organizations providing licensed or registered nonresidential day care services.

Those organizations include childcare centers, outside school hours care centers and organizations providing day care services for children with disabilities or special health needs.
