Hernandez acquired

ANAHEIM, Calif. -- The Los Angeles Dodgers have acquired right-hander Roberto Hernandez from the Philadelphia Phillies in a trade for two players to be named later or cash considerations.

The clubs announced the deal Thursday.

The 33-year-old Hernandez is 6-8 with a 3.87 ERA in his first season with the Phillies, who signed him to a one-year, $4.5 million deal in December. He spent last year with Tampa Bay and his first seven major league seasons with Cleveland.

Hernandez was known as Fausto Carmona for his first six big-league seasons. The Dominican Republic native missed most of the 2012 season after getting arrested on charges of falsifying his identity to obtain a visa.

Hernandez has been a starter for most of his career, but might begin in the bullpen for the NL-leading Dodgers.

BLUE JAYS

3B Lawrie on DL

TORONTO -- The Toronto Blue Jays have placed third baseman Brett Lawrie on the 15-day disabled list with a left oblique strain.

Lawrie had just returned to the lineup after missing more than a month with a broken right index finger.

He was injured injury Tuesday and left the game after three innings as Toronto opened a three-game series at home against Baltimore.

Lawrie was placed on the DL retroactive to Wednesday. The team recalled left-handed reliever Rob Rasmussen from Triple-A Buffalo.

GIANTS

OF Pagan returns

MILWAUKEE -- The San Francisco Giants activated outfielder Angel Pagan from the 15-day disabled list Thursday.

The Giants made the move before their game against the Milwaukee Brewers.

Pagan missed 44 games with back inflammation. He is batting .307 with 3 home runs and 19 RBI.

Infielder Matt Duffy was optioned to Triple-A Fresno.

ROCKIES

RHP Nicasio recalled

DENVER -- The Colorado Rockies have recalled right-hander Juan Nicasio from Triple-A Colorado Springs and optioned righty Brooks Brown to the Sky Sox.

Nicasio is available out of the bullpen for Thursday's game against the Chicago Cubs.

Nicasio began the season on the opening day roster and was 5-5 with a 5.92 ERA in 14 starts. He was optioned to Colorado Springs on June 16.

Brown has had two stints the Rockies this season and made his major league debut July 6. He is 0-1 with a 6.75 ERA in 10 appearances with Colorado Springs.

INDIANS

Lee back in fold

CINCINNATI -- The Indians called up right-hander C.C. Lee from Triple-A Columbus on Thursday, adding a reliever for the final game of their interleague series against the Cincinnati Reds.

It is Lee's fourth stint with Cleveland. He's 0-0 with a 4.26 ERA in 15 games this season.

Cleveland optioned starter Danny Salazar to Columbus a day after he started an 8-3 loss to the Reds. Salazar is 4-5 with a 4.88 ERA in 12 starts. The Indians expect to let him make one appearance with Columbus before bringing him back up.

Manager Terry Francona said reliever Carlos Carrasco would start in New York on Sunday in Salazar's spot.

DIAMONDBACKS

Lamb gets promotion

PHOENIX -- The Arizona Diamondbacks promoted third baseman Jake Lamb from Triple-A Reno on Thursday and designated infielder Andy Marte for assignment.

Lamb, 23, hit .327 with 39 doubles, 15 home runs and 84 RBI in 108 games with Double-A Mobile and Reno this season. In 244 games in three seasons in the minors, he has hit .321 with 83 doubles, 37 home runs and 193 RBI.

The 30-year-old Marte hit .188 with 1 home run and 3 RBI in six games for Arizona this year.

RED SOX

Johnson off 15-day DL

ST. LOUIS -- The Boston Red Sox activated utilityman Kelly Johnson off the 15-day disabled list from a strained left groin and optioned rookie Mookie Betts to Triple-A Pawtucket.

Johnson was not in the lineup Thursday night against the St. Louis Cardinals. He was acquired from the Yankees on the trade deadline for Stephen Drew and played two rehab games with Double-A Portland.

Johnson batted .219 with 6 home runs and 22 RBI in 77 games with New York.

Betts, 21, batted .244 with 1 home run and 2 RBI in 13 games.
