Assault led to SWAT standoff, police say

The Little Rock police SWAT team was called in Sunday evening after a Little Rock man assaulted a woman and threatened her with a gun, police said.

Jasper Goodwin, 20, attacked Latasha Hunt, 32, after she refused to give him her phone when he arrived at her house in Little Rock, near 720 S. Valentine St., according to a Little Rock police report.

Goodwin chased Hunt into her yard and shoved her against a tree, slamming her face into it, according to the report. Goodwin then threatened Hunt with a gun and said he was going to kill her, the report states.

Hunt managed to get away from Goodwin, and saw him run into a vacant house down the street. Officers set up a perimeter around the vacant house and called in the SWAT team. When the team searched the house, however, the suspect was nowhere in sight.

Hunt had minor injuries but did not need to be taken to the hospital.
