Fleeing man knocks on lawman's door

A man who shot at a vehicle Saturday fled from police and unknowingly knocked on the door of a state trooper, according to an arrest report.

Officers responded to the intersection of Frenchmen Loop and Counts Massie Road in North Little Rock just before midnight Saturday to calls of a terroristic act. The man who reported the incident said he and his 5-year-old son were driving on Frenchmen Loop when a man in a gray car shot his vehicle eight times, according to an arrest report.

The bullets hit the driver's side window and door, the back of the car and one of the tires.

The victim told police that he drove away and dialed 911. When the gunman followed him, the victim pulled over, got out of the car and ran away in an attempt to draw the suspect away from his son. The gunman, whom police later identified as 19-year-old James Zantrese Austin, was chasing the victim on foot when police arrived, according to an arrest report.

Officers and police dogs chased Austin south along Counts Massie Road. When he was out of sight of police, he ran to an apartment complex and knocked on several doors, police said. When a state trooper opened his door, Austin pushed past him and ran inside. The trooper then arrested Austin, who was booked into the Pulaski County jail.

Late Sunday, Austin was held in lieu of bond on charges of fleeing, carrying a prohibited weapon, residential burglary and two counts of a terroristic act.

Man stabs brother in back, police say

A Sherwood man was arrested Saturday over accusations that he stabbed his brother in the back, according to police.

Police were dispatched to a fight at 300 Hillwood Drive in Sherwood at 5:45 a.m. Saturday. A resident of the home, Larry Johnson, said he woke up that morning to run an errand and saw that his car was missing. According to a police report, he confronted his brother, David Johnson, who then attacked him.

Larry Johnson told police that his brother stabbed him in the back with a kitchen knife during the fight.

While questioning the victim, police smelled marijuana, searched the home and found marijuana, Xanax and drug paraphernalia, according to the report.

David Johnson, 48, was arrested on charges of aggravated assault of a family member and domestic battering, as well as three counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell and five counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was booked into the Pulaski County jail and held in lieu of bond.

Larry Johnson refused treatment for his injuries.

Convenience store workers trap robber

The attempted robbery of a convenience store Saturday ended when employees locked the robber inside the store until police arrived, according to an arrest report.

The robber, whose face was covered, entered Super Stop -- 6828 Colonel Glenn Road in Little Rock -- flashed a large knife and demanded money from the two employees, according to police.

One employee opened the register, and the other employee threw things at the suspect, police said. The employees locked the suspect in the store, dialed 911 and held him until police arrived.

Cory Love, 27, was arrested on charges of aggravated robbery. He was also charged with obstruction of government operations after purportedly giving police a false name.

Love was held in lieu of bond at Pulaski County jail Sunday night.

Police arrest Benton man at Twin Peaks

A Benton man was arrested at Twin Peaks on multiple felony drug charges Sunday, according to police.

When officers approached Justin Fiser, 33, in the parking lot of Twin Peaks, 10 Shackleford Drive in Little Rock, he threw a "large amount" of pills onto the floorboard and under the seat of his car, police said.

According to an arrest report, the pills were oxycodone, Xanax, Adderall and methadone.

Fiser was arrested early Sunday morning on four counts of drug possession with purpose to deliver, as well as possession of drug paraphernalia. He was booked into Pulaski County jail, and his bail was set at $71,000. He remained on the jail's roster Sunday night.

North Little Rock fight leads to arrest

A man was arrested on charges of fleeing, disorderly conduct and drug possession Saturday after fighting in front of the Knights of Columbus building in North Little Rock, according to police.

Police attempted to stop a fight between Antonio Duran, 18, and another man at 11:15 p.m. Saturday at the Knights of Columbus, 6253 Camp Robinson Road, according to a police report. An officer sprayed Duran in the face with pepper spray, but Duran fled behind the building, police said.

Duran was caught after a brief chase. Officers found a small baggie of crystal methamphetamine in his wallet, according to a police report.

Duran was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct, fleeing and possession of a Schedule II controlled substance. He was being held at the Pulaski County jail late Sunday for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
