Civil War seminar

The Old State House Museum, 300 W. Markham St., Little Rock, will host a half-day seminar, "Under Two Governments: A Seminar on Civil War Arkansas in 1864," 9 a.m.-noon Saturday.

The seminar will feature three talks:

• 9:15 a.m.: Gary Joiner -- "The Camden Campaign: The Union Effort to Capture Shreveport"

• 10:15 a.m.: Tom DeBlack -- "Sound Common Sense, Good Intentions and Scrupulous Honesty": Isaac Murphy and the Unionist Government in Civil War Arkansas

• 11 a.m.: Michael B. Dougan: "The real sting of being an exile": A Swan Song for Confederate Arkansas

There will also be an 11:45 a.m. question and answer session. Admission is free; register in advance by calling (501) 324-8641.

Marketing your art

Hot Springs artist Carole Katchen, author of two books on art marketing, will put on a day-long workshop for local artists called "How to Sell Your Art in a Horrible Economy" from 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Saturday at Art Outfitters, 917 W.
