ALTHEIMER — Authorities in Jefferson County say a 26-year-old man is dead after a shooting in Altheimer.
The Jefferson County sheriff's office said the shooting happened about 8:22 p.m. Wednesday near Third and Main streets in Altheimer. Authorities said officers discovered Thrisdon Deshawn Eason dead at the scene from a gunshot wound. Another man, 26-year-old Alfred Burton Jr., was wounded and taken to Jefferson Regional Medical Center.
Maj. Lafayette Woods Jr. said witnesses told investigators that the shooting happened after an argument between the victims and another man. Investigators have not yet recovered a weapon, but did find shell casings at the scene.
Woods said 30-year-old Keith Shelton of Altheimer turned himself in to authorities Thursday morning and faces charges of first-degree murder and attempted murder.
