A male pedestrian was struck by a commercial carrier Thursday morning on eastbound Interstate 30 in Saline County, police said.

Arkansas State Police spokesman Bill Sadler said Michael Patterson, 34, was struck shortly after 9:30 a.m. at exit 115 near Bryant. A preliminary investigation indicates Patterson was struck by the second trailer behind the truck as the driver swerved to avoid hitting Patterson.

Patterson was airlifted to a hospital after the accident, where he is being treated for the injuries he sustained from the crash.

The crash remains under investigation by the Arkansas State Police.
