Training program for Little Rock Marathon starts next month

A free training program will begin in September for Little Rock Marathon participants who want to train with a coach before the big race day.

Official training for the Little Rock Marathon begins on Sept. 15 and will be led by Hobbit Singleton of Maumelle.

All fitness levels are welcome, and the training is do-able for anyone planning to participate in the marathon, Singleton said in a news release.

Singleton said over 2,600 people were in last year’s program, which was an 11-percent increase from the year before.

Those interested in the training program can attend an informational meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Centre at University Park.

The annual marathon, presented by the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, benefits Little Rock Parks and Recreation. The training program is sponsored by Bill Torrey’s Rock City Running and KARK, Channel 4.
