FAA to award $1.2 million to Arkansas airports

LITTLE ROCK — The Federal Aviation Administration will give $1.2 million in grants to five Arkansas airports for facility upgrades and expansions.

Three members of the Arkansas congressional delegation made the announcement Thursday.

Municipal airports in Lake Village, Malvern, Searcy and Stuttgart will receive funding, as well as the Dexter B. Florence Memorial Field Airport in Arkadelphia.

The grants range from about $162,000 to $322,000. They will support upgrades such as a perimeter fence in Arkadelphia and additional parking in Malvern.

The grant funding is part of a fiscal year 2014 appropriations bill that was signed into law in January.
