The Arkansas Children's Hospital Foundation's seventh annual Color of Hope Gala took a turn for turquoise on Aug. 8 at the John Q. Hammons Center in Rogers. The gala and accompanying 21st annual Will Golf 4 Kids tournament brought in $745,000 for the pediatric hospital based in Little Rock. Money raised also will help support the Centers for Children in Lowell.

The 2015 benefit gala is set for August and the Color of Hope will be white, as chosen by this year's gala guests.

Those donning turquoise in support of hope included Sue and Charles Redfield, Jill and Mike Sewell, Melanie and Kyden Reeh, Trudy and Tom Baxter, Marcy Doderer, Robin and Gary George, Pete and Pat Allen and Fred Scarborough.

TheatreSquared patrons had a poolside preview of the professional theater group's 2014-15 season Tuesday evening at the Fayetteville home of Denise and Hershey Garner.

Martin Miller, theater executive director, told me attendance last year at the group's productions jumped 40 percent. He attributes that to a quality lineup of productions and that "word is getting out" about Northwest Arkansas' only year-round professional theater.

This season's offerings include "One Man, Two Guvnors," "Proof," "Around the World in 80 Days," "Look Away," "Superior Donuts" and the 2015 Arkansas New Play Festival.

Patrons present for the preview included Lynn Donald and Joel Carver, Amy Herzberg and Bob Ford, Don Bacigalupi, Hannah and Greg Lee, Butch and Roy Clinton, Lori and Steve Collins and Shannon and Randy Dixon.
