Arkansas Entertainers Hall of Fame seeks nominees

The Arkansas Entertainers Hall of Fame said Monday that it is accepting nominations for its 2015 class of inductees.

Past honorees include author John Grisham, country music singer Johnny Cash, singers Al Green and Sister Rosetta Tharp, and actors Alan Ladd, Mary Steenburgen and Billy Bob Thornton.

Candidates may be nominated in the following categories: performing (musicians, actors, dancers); non-performing (such as writers, directors and producers); posthumous (deceased who fit any category); and pioneer (a still-living entertainer with Arkansas connections who was an early innovator in any of the above categories), according to an Arkansas Department of Parks & Tourism news release.

Submissions must explain why the person should be in the Hall of Fame, must include the submitters' contact information, and may be sent to Gloria Robins at the Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism, 1 Capitol Mall, Suite 4A-900, Little Rock, Ark., 72201.

The deadline for submissions is Oct. 1.

The Arkansas Entertainers Hall of Fame is based at 1 Convention Center Plaza in Pine Bluff.
