Teen killed in Redfield crash, sheriff's office says

REDFIELD — Authorities say a Jefferson County teenager was killed in a single-vehicle wreck near Redfield.

The Jefferson County sheriff's office said the crash happened Sunday evening on River Road. According to the sheriff's office, 17-year-old Cody Farley of Redfield was a passenger in a vehicle that spun out of control and overturned five times.

Farley was taken to Jefferson Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

The sheriff's office said the driver of the vehicle was likely traveling more than 100 mph at the time of the crash. Authorities say the driver had swerved to avoid a pedestrian in the roadway before the crash.
