Maumelle residents collect donations for flood victims

The city of Maumelle is working to help families whose homes were damaged in a Sunday flood.

Some families lost personal items because of the flood, which occurred after up to 6 inches of rain fell on parts of Maumelle, and city officials have set up drop-off locations in the community to collect items for those in need, the city said in a statement.

The collection sites are looking for: moving boxes and packing tape, garbage bags, gloves, hand sanitizer and cleaning supplies.

These items can be dropped off at The Gables of Maumelle office at 1500 Union Court or the Maumelle Senior Wellness center at 550 Edgewood Drive.

Monetary donations can be made through the website of the Timmons Arts Foundation, a nonprofit organization that aims to bolster visual arts and music programs in schools.

Donors must specify that the donation is for “Maumelle flood relief” on the website.
