A Little Rock man offered to pay a woman $20 for a ride but then forced her and her friend from the car and drove off in it, authorities said.
Rogelio Angeles Jr., 19, was later arrested on charges including aggravated robbery and aggravated assault.
The 19-year-old woman who was driving told Pulaski County sheriff's office investigators that Angeles is a "longtime associate" and that she agreed to give him a ride from Little Rock to an address on Arkansas 300 on Monday night.
According to a sheriff's office report, Angeles asked the woman to pull over near Barrett Road, at which point he "put something small and hard into her side and stated that he did not want to shoot her so she better get out."
She complied and he then pushed out her friend, who was riding in the front passenger seat, and drove off in the 2011 Mazda, the report said.
The victim and her 19-year-old friend both said they thought the item Angeles wielded was a handgun, though they never saw it, the report noted.
Authorities later Monday night tracked the stolen Mazda using a GPS system installed in it. Deputies pulled it over in the 800 block of Reservoir Road in Little Rock and arrested the driver, Angeles. He had a small baggie of suspected marijuana in his pocket as well as a screwdriver, which deputies believe to be the object he used while suggesting he had a gun, the report said.
Angeles remained in the Pulaski County jail Tuesday with bail not yet set.
