3 men sought in Pine Bluff gas station robbery

The Pine Bluff Police Department is searching for three men who robbed a gas station earlier this month.

On Aug. 7, officers were dispatched about 1:20 a.m. to the Circle N store at 2901 W. 28th Ave., where a clerk told police that three black men had robbed the store. The clerk said one man put a gun to the clerk’s head while another robbed the store, and the third man stood in the doorway holding a handgun.

The clerk said that while he was held at gunpoint, one of the men jumped across the counter and took cigarettes, an unknown amount of money from the cash register and two cellphones from another employee, the police report states. The robber who held the clerk at gunpoint then struck the clerk in the head three times and told him to get on the floor.

The three men left the building and fled west on 28th Avenue. Police recovered a single pack of Newport cigarettes in the parking lot after the robbers left the gas station.

One of the robbers wore a black shirt and pants, and a red Chicago Bulls cap. Another robber wore a white shirt with an orange undershirt, khaki shorts and a red cap. The third robber wore a black shirt and pants, a black skullcap, according to the report. Each wore a bandanna covering his face, police said.

Police on Tuesday named one suspect as Cornelius Jones, 25, of Pine Bluff, who's described as having black hair and brown eyes, standing 5 feet 11 inches and weighing about 130 pounds. Authorities also named Marcus Williams, 22, who has black hair and brown eyes and stands about 5 feet 11 and weighs about 135 pounds. Williams is also wanted in the Sunday robbery of the McDonald's at 2819 S. Olive St., Pine Bluff police said.

Anyone with information about the robbery or the whereabouts of Jones or Williams is asked to call the Pine Bluff Police Department's Detective Office at (870) 730-2090.
