McDonald's robbery in Pine Bluff investigated

The Pine Bluff Police Department is investigating an armed robbery that occurred early Sunday at a McDonald’s restaurant.

Officers were dispatched around 4 a.m. to 2819 S. Olive St., where employees said that three black men came into the restaurant demanding money.

One male employee said he saw “some guys outside and thought that it was some kids playing," a police report states. When the employee went outside, one of the men put a gun to his neck, called his name and said "you know me." It wasn't clear from the report whose name was called, and police were not available for comment Tuesday afternoon.

The employee was then forced into the restaurant and asked where the money was located. The employee said he didn’t know, then another man jumped over the counter and tried to get money out of the cash register, according to the report.

A female employee who was restocking napkins said one robber told her to “be calm and nobody will get hurt,” the report states. She said two men jumped over the counter and one stayed as a “lookout” during the robbery.

While the robbers were attempting to open the registers, one employee locked himself and his coworker in a freezer and called police.

The robbers then ran out of the front door and fled west on 29th Street. It wasn't clear whether they escaped with any cash or property.

Police on Tuesday named one suspect as Marcus Williams, 22, of Pine Bluff, who's described as having black hair and brown eyes, standing 5 feet 11 inches and weighing 135 pounds.

Anyone with information about the robbery or the whereabouts of Williams may contact the Pine Bluff Police Detective Office at (870) 730-2090.
