A man was arrested Tuesday after he purportedly hit his brother with a club in a homeless camp, authorities said.
Little Rock police were dispatched around 3:20 p.m. to the 3000 block of Confederate Boulevard, where they made contact with Joseph Mauldin, 51, who had minor injuries to his right shoulder, left forearm and one of his fingers, a police report states.
He was carrying a 3 1/2-foot-long club made from a tree branch that had blood on the end of it, police said.
Joseph Mauldin told police that his brother, Roger Mauldin, 49, attacked him with the branch because he “wouldn’t help keep the homeless camp clean of his beer cans,” police said.
While Joseph Mauldin was being treated for his injuries by Metropolitan Emergency Medical Services, officers found Roger Mauldin, suffering from broken bones and head wounds, at the homeless camp near 30th Street and Confederate Boulevard.
Both men were taken to UAMS Medical Center for treatment of their non-life-threatening injuries.
Detectives later arrived at the homeless camp and determined that Joseph Mauldin was the “aggressor” in the altercation, the report states.
Joseph Mauldin was taken to the Pulaski County jail and charged with second-degree domestic battery. He’s being held in lieu of $2,500 bond.
