Jonesboro Sun reporter resigns amid conflict with police chief

The Jonesboro Sun says that one of its reporters resigned Monday after a “tense months-long relationship” with the Jonesboro police chief.

The newspaper reported Wednesday that Jonesboro Police Chief Mike Yates on Aug. 3 started posting comments on his Facebook page about police reporter Sunshine Crump.

The comments addressed Crump’s character and abilities as a reporter.

In Crump’s resignation letter, she states “The level of stress and anxiety created by a public official who commands a small army, and who targets someone in such a manner for First Amendment protected activities is hard to measure," the Sun reported.
