Monte Mikhail Kivo

Arrested in Pulaski County, AR on August 20, 2014

A 43-year-old North Little Rock man is accused of opening fire during an altercation at his mother's home Tuesday night.

Monte Mikhail Kivo is facing a charge of aggravated assault on a family member.

North Little Rock police say they were called about 10:10 p.m. to Kivo's mother's home in the 1500 block of Northline Drive after a report of shots fired.

On scene, the mother told investigators Kivo was armed with a handgun when he came over after an argument over the telephone, according to a North Little Rock Police Department report.

The mother told police Kivo fired once in the home, causing a slight injury because he discharged the gun "directly beside the right side of her face," the report noted. The shot hit a television in the home.

The report said Kivo was arrested at the home "after a short standoff." He remained in the Pulaski County jail Wednesday morning with bail not yet set.

Kivo is due in court later Wednesday morning.
