Man held in stepfather's shooting in North Little Rock

A 22-year-old man is accused of shooting his stepfather in a North Little Rock house early Wednesday, authorities said.

Brandon Duane Williams of North Little Rock is facing charges of first-degree domestic battery and possession of a firearm by a certain person.

According to a North Little Rock Police Department arrest report, officers responded shortly after 1:30 a.m. to a house in the 200 block of North Cherry Street and found Williams' stepfather suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

The victim's condition Thursday wasn't clear.

Police said a witness identified Williams as the shooter and later picked him out of a photo lineup.

Officers about 2 a.m. Wednesday took Williams into custody after pulling him over in the 4200 block of Camp Robinson Road. He was then questioned about the shooting.

"Williams stated he was present when the victim was shot," police wrote in the report. "Williams stated he ... had a gun, but did not shoot the victim."

No information on the motive in the shooting was included in the report.

Williams has a felony conviction in 2010 in Pulaski County for a charge of possession of a controlled substance, online court records show.

Williams remained in the Pulaski County jail Thursday morning with bail not yet set.
