1 CANS

People have been playing with their food, with some very artistic results for CANstruction. This exhibit of sculptures made from canned goods benefits the Arkansas Foodbank and opens to the public 7 a.m.-midnight Saturday at the Statehouse Convention Center, 426 W. Markham St., Little Rock. It will remain on display through Sept. 4. Regular hours are 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday. The public will be able to vote on their favorites until noon Aug. 29. 2 CASSEROLES

The town of Clinton is hosting one huge meal and everyone's invited to the Guinness World Record Potluck Party and SurvivorFest, Saturday at Clinton High School, 489 Yellowjacket Lane, and help Clinton in its attempt to break the record for largest potluck. Intake and recording of dishes starts at 10:30 a.m. with the meal starting at approximately noon. Music will entertain the crowds while they wait. Admission is free, but to count toward the total, guests must bring a dish that can feed at least six people. 3 CURE

The Race for the Cure is more than a month away, but the Susan G. Komen Foundation is getting the celebration started with a Kick-Off Party, 2-4 p.m. Sunday at the Promenade at Chenal, 17711 Chenal Parkway, Little Rock. 4 CANTRELL

Artist John Deering puts a personal touch on some familiar places and faces in "The Arkansas Traveler," the latest exhibit at Cantrell Gallery, 8206 Cantrell Road, Little Rock. It opens with a reception, 6-8 p.m. Friday, and will continue through Oct. 18. Gallery hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Saturday and admission is free. 5 CAVORT

Gather by the river for some running, walking and bouncing with Rollin' on the River. The annual fundraiser for Easter Seals Arkansas includes a competitive 5K run, a 2K fun walk and a children's area complete with petting zoo and bouncy houses, 7-10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Clinton Presidential Center, 1200 President Clinton Ave., Little Rock. 6 COMPLEX

A plain and lonely Irish woman in her early 40s and her manipulative aging mother butt heads over the former's first (and possibly final) chance of a loving relationship in The Beauty Queen of Leenane by Martin McDonagh, which the Weekend Theater -- West Seventh and Chester streets, Little Rock -- will stage at 7:30 p.m. Friday-Saturday through Sept. 6. The Community Theatre of Little Rock will open its 59th season with "A Series of One Acts" -- 30 Minutes to Charlie by Nick Zagone, Pvt. Wars by James McLure, Ways and Means by Noel Coward and The Actor's Nightmare by Christopher Durang -- at 7:30 p.m. Friday-Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday at the Studio Theatre, 320 W. More than a dozen restaurants and caterers will participate in the Arkansas Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation's Merrill Lynch Taste of the Finest fundraiser, 7-10 p.m. Friday at the Metroplex, 10800 Colonel Glenn Road, Little Rock. Cache and Arthur's Prime Steakhouse will supply the food for the VIP happy hour reception at 6 p.m., which will also feature a signature cocktail provided by Glazer's distributors and a performance by Tragikly White. Craig O'Neill will emcee. 9 CLUBS

A golf tournament and a concert bookend a day of fun and family activities to raise money for Arkansas military families for the fifth annual Arkansas Salutes the Troops, Saturday at Greystone Country Club, 57 Greystone Blvd., Cabot. Registration for the golf tournament starts at 7:30 a.m. ($340 per four-man team) with an 8 a.m. shotgun start. The 6 p.m. concert will feature Mother Hubbard and Tragikly White; admission is free. Emcee will be R.J. Hawk of radio station KABZ-FM, 103.7, "The Buzz." 10 CONCERT

Grammy-winning cellist Sara Sant'Ambrogio, who performed in Eureka Springs with the Eroica Trio in the summer of 2012, returns for a solo recital at 2 p.m. Sunday at The Auditorium, 36 S. Main St., Eureka Springs. To raise awareness and support for a classical music festival she's trying to start in the Northwest Arkansas village, she and pianist Robert Koenig will be playing a Porgy and Bess Fantasy -- her arrangement of music by George Gershwin -- and pieces by Latin-American composers Astor Piazzolla, Enrique Granados and Gaspar Cassado.
