Man accused of opening fire after trying to start 'physical confrontation'

A 21-year-old North Little Rock man is accused of trying to start a fight with a man and then opening fire when it didn't develop.

Kevin Bernard Harris was arrested about 8 p.m. Thursday on a charge of aggravated assault.

According to a North Little Rock police report, the victim said he was mowing a lawn in the 100 block of Blenden Drive when Harris approached him and "attempted to coax him into a physical confrontation."

No fight developed, and Harris and another man ended up walking away, but the victim reported Harris took a gun from the other man and opened fire as they left, the report said.

"The victim advised that he was unsure how many shots were fired of of the direction," police wrote in the report, noting that the victim ran for cover after the first show and was in fear for his life.

Harris, who was arrested at 22nd and Maple streets, remained in the Pulaski County jail Friday morning with bail set at $25,000.
