FORT SMITH — An official with a planned Arkansas medical college has shown early concepts of the school to the Fort Chaffee Redevelopment Authority board of trustees.
The proposed Arkansas College of Osteopathic Medicine is to be built at Fort Chaffee on 200 acres of donated land.
A school official revealed the plans Thursday to board members. One campus building is expected to be about 100,000 square feet and to cost at least $21 million.
Plans for the new structure include an anatomy lab, technology areas and auditoriums.
The Times Record reported that the school could open as early as August 2016.
The board's executive director says having the college in Fort Chaffee is going to be a "game-changer" when the school opens.
