Woman dies after Bryant hit-and-run

The Bryant Police Department confirmed Friday that a 20-year-old woman who was hit by a truck in a Bryant Target parking lot Thursday afternoon has died.

The woman, who was identified as Heather Baker, was struck by Marcus Dorsey, 39, of Little Rock, who was driving through the parking lot as the woman was walking into the store, police have said.

Dorsey hit Baker with a U-Haul pickup and left the scene, police said. He also hit three vehicles on Interstate 30 west before exiting at Alcoa Road, where the Target store is located, Bryant Police Department spokesman Sgt. Todd Crowson said.

He was followed by a Target employee into a nearby apartment complex, where police took him into custody. Crowson said Baker was airlifted to Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock, where she died about 10:39 a.m. Friday.

Dorsey is now being charged with one count of first-degree murder, four counts of leaving the scene of an accident and a count of driving on a suspended driver’s license, Crowson said.

Dorsey is being held in lieu of $1,000,000 bond at the Saline County jail and is scheduled to appear in circuit court in September, Crowson said.
