Governor's office: Marketplace premiums to drop 2% in 2015

The governor’s office announced Tuesday that policies sold through the Arkansas Health Insurance Marketplace will see a two-percent net decrease in premium costs next year, according to projections from the Arkansas Insurance Department.

The calculations include policies offered through the state's private option, which will also see a decrease in premiums, but “will essentially remain flat in comparison to 2014,” a statement from the governor’s office said.

Some people will see a small increase in their premiums and others will see a more than two-percent drop in costs.

Once plans are certified by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, final rates will be released before open enrollment for 2015 begins on Nov. 15.
