Miley Cyrus said when she stole the night at last year's MTV Video Music Awards, she didn't realize her impact and influence. Now, the singer says she wants to use her powers for good. The 21-year-old is assisting the Hollywood homeless center My Friend's Place by launching a Prizeo campaign, urging her fans to donate to the cause assisting homeless youth. Cyrus took a member of the center as her date to Sunday's awards at The Forum in Inglewood, Calif., letting him accept her award for video of the year. "I think what I realized after my last performance at the VMAs, I didn't realize my platform, I didn't realize my power, and I didn't realize my voice and how loud it is," Cyrus said in an interview Monday. "And I thought, you know, rather than sit here and talk about, 'Oh, on every news cover, every time you go to AOL or wherever you go everybody's sitting there talking about me,' instead of using it as a negative, how can I use it as a positive? If I'm going to be speaking this loud, what am I trying to scream at the world? And this is it. It's kind of a wake-up [call], which is what I had to do."

Prince is releasing a new album on Sept. 30. The pop icon announced Monday that he would release Art Official Age on Warner Bros. Records, the label Prince was signed to from 1978 to the mid-1990s, but later battled for the rights to his music. He reached a deal with Warner in April, earning the rights to the music he recorded on the label. Prince will also release the album PlectrumElectrum with his all-female band 3RDEYEGIRL on Sept. 30. Both albums are available for pre-order. Art Official Age was described in a news release as a mix "of soul, R&B and funk." It's his first album since 2010's 20Ten. Prince released key projects like Purple Rain, 1999, Diamonds and Pearls and Around the World in a Day on Warner. The new agreement comes years after his relationship with Warner soured as he failed to gain possession of the music he recorded for the label. Prince changed his name to an unpronounceable symbol and wrote the word "slave" on his cheek. He also vowed to rerecord the 17 albums he released on the label and sell them on his own. After Warner, Prince began releasing music in 1996 over the Internet, and struck deals with Arista Records and Columbia Records, where he saw a comeback with the Grammy-winning Musicology in 2004.
