Greenwood man gets 6 years for animal abuse

GREENWOOD — An Arkansas man has been sentenced to six years in prison for animal abuse after authorities found emaciated dogs at his former home.

The Times Record reported that 38-year-old Randy Snyder of Greenwood pleaded guilty Wednesday to aggravated cruelty to a dog.

Authorities say three starving dogs were found chained in Snyder's backyard last September. They say the animals' spines, ribs and hip bones were visible.

Authorities say they found two cats inside the home. They say Snyder had moved out of the residence and left the animals behind.

The animals were taken to the Sebastian County Humane Society.

Snyder was ordered to pay restitution for the animals' medical treatment.
