NORTH LITTLE ROCK — State regulators will meet with Arkansas utilities and others affected by pending changes to air quality standards that call for a 45 percent cut in carbon emissions in the state.
Utility executives, environmentalists and government officials are to meet Thursday at the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality headquarters in North Little Rock to discuss how to meet the new standards, which are planned to go into force in 2030.
The ADEQ and the Arkansas Public Service Commission are organizing a series of meetings to explore the state impact of the regulatory changes, which would impact mainly coal-fired electric generation plants.
