Labor Day Weekend gets some serious horsepower at the annual National Championship Chuckwagon Races, Friday-Sunday. The Bar of Ranch in Clinton is being invaded by mules and very fast horses for the event, which includes clinics, shows, trail rides and music in addition to the big races. 2 MILLWOOD, MOUNT MAGAZINE, ETC.

Arkansas State Parks are taking the long weekend to celebrate their history, culture and amenities with Legacy Week. Just some of the special events planned are hands-on crafts at the Ozark Folk Center State Park in Mountain View, a memory quilt project and ice cream social at Scott's Plantation Agriculture Museum and preservation programs and clean-ups at the nature-oriented parks such as Delta Heritage Trail State Park in Helena-West Helena. 3 MUSIC

Spa City will be singing the blues at the 18th annual Hot Springs Blues Festival from Friday through Sunday at downtown's Hill Wheatley Plaza. Acts include Heavy Suga and the Sweetones, Charlotte Taylor, Gypsy Rain and Larry Garner. Tickets are $10-$15. The eyes play tricks in the "Making the Unbelievable Believable" show, 7:30 p.m. Saturday at The Studio Theatre, 320 W. 5 MOSAIC

The Mosaic Templars Cultural Center salutes black filmmakers with the Filmmakers Corner Film Festival, 5:30-10 p.m. Saturday. The festival will include local and international works and selections from festivals such as South by Southwest and the New York Documentary Film Festival. 6 MERRIMENT

For the 63rd year, Prairie Grove Battlefield State Park hosts a weekend of arts and crafts, antique farming equipment displays and Civil War re-enactors at the Clothesline Fair, Saturday-Monday. 7 MARTINA

Martina McBride, three times the Academy of Country Music's Top Female Vocalist and four times Country Music Association's Female Vocalist of the Year, will perform at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Fine Arts Center, East Arkansas Community College, 1700 Newcastle Road, Forrest City. The Ozark Folk Center State Park in Mountain View pays tribute to the late, great Grandpa Jones with performances Friday and Saturday: Guitarist Doyle Dykes headlines the 7 p.m. Friday show ($12) with Kathy Mattea headlining at 7 p.m. Saturday ($20).
