• Miss Eliza Grosskorf will give a reward to anyone disclosing the names of the small boys who are chasing her poultry at night. Mrs. Isinsky has lost several geese lately. The entire neighborhood is aroused, and immediate steps should be taken to ferret out the offenders. A young turkey, destined to adorn the table of the Van Cortland Beekmans, is also missing. Could it have been a conspiracy among the birds; the geese going back to Straussburg, the turkey to Turkey, and the chickens to whatever locality possessed their sympathies? Mrs. Noncompos Mentes has locked her fowls in the garage for three succeeding nights, and each morning they were found occupying the automobile. A large rooster takes the chauffeur's seat, and seems almost as capable of running the machine as does the average incompetent.

MINERAL SPRINGS -- Six high school cheerleaders linked hands in the rain and halted Winthrop Rockefeller's campaign bus here Wednesday. Then they cut loose with special cheers they developed to boost the Republican's bid for governor. Rockefeller left the bus and greeted the girls, then invited them to his January inauguration, if he wins the Nov. 3 election.

• U.S. Attorney Chuck Banks said Monday he will not prosecute the Urban League of Arkansas Inc. or officials who managed the agency's Head Start program. "I don't see any basis there for any criminal intent to violate any statutes," Banks said. However, Banks said league finances were mismanaged. Hayward M. Battle, chairman of the Urban League board of directors, said he was "gratified at the findings of the U.S. attorney's office" because it "removes a cloud" over the agency that has been a barrier between it and new sources of funding.

EUREKA SPRINGS -- One of Eureka Springs' attractions will start marketing itself to a new group of tourists this fall. The Great Passion Play, an attraction just outside Eureka Springs' city limits, is developing plans to attract Spanish-speaking visitors, said Mardell Bland, a marketing consultant working for the play. The Great Passion Play features tours, a Bible museum and a play that re-enacts the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. One change The Great Passion Play is exploring is to pass out headsets on which audience members could listen to the re-enactment in Spanish, Bland said.
