Arkansas State Police are working a fatal accident Friday afternoon in the northbound lanes of U.S. 67/167 in Cabot, which is stalling traffic ahead of a holiday-weekend rush hour, officials say.

Arkansas State Police spokesman Bill Sadler said the accident is near the Pulaski and Lonoke county line just before the first Cabot exit.

At least one person was killed in the accident, Pulaski County Coroner Gerone Hobbs said. The victim's name has not yet been released.

Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department spokesman Danny Straessle said the accident was reported at about 3:30 p.m. and no commercial vehicles are involved.

As of 5:15 p.m., all northbound lanes had reopened, Sadler said. The Arkansas Online live traffic map still showed the some delays south of the accident site around Jacksonville, however

"That's a two-lane road there, so it doesn't take much to block traffic," Straessle said.
