NLR man charged in May homicide

A suspect was arrested Thursday in the slaying of a North Little Rock man in May.

Juwon Cooper, 21, was charged with first-degree murder in the death of Corey Britt on May 27. Britt, 21, was found dead about 5:43 p.m. at his home at 606 Rose Lane.

North Little Rock police spokesman Sgt. Brian Dedrick said in May that Britt suffered “trauma consistent with a homicide.” Britt’s neighbors told the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette that he had been shot to death. Britt’s brother found the body and called 911.

Police and U.S. Marshals arrested Cooper at 6 a.m. Thursday at his house at 821 Greenlea Drive in North Little Rock. Cooper’s home is less than a half-mile from Britt’s former residence.

Cooper was being held in lieu of bond at the Pulaski County jail Friday night.
