MARKED TREE -- Deputies are investigating the discovery of a body along a St. Francis River levee near Marked Tree on Saturday, and Poinsett County Sheriff Larry Mills said he has a person of interest in the case.
Deputies responded to a report of a vehicle fire on a levee at about 6 p.m. Saturday and found the body. Mills would not say whether the victim was male or female, or if it was found inside the burnt vehicle.
"We can't say," he said. "We're still working on the case, and we don't want to release too much."
The Arkansas State Police is assisting in the investigation, he said.
Authorities sent the body to the state Crime Laboratory for an autopsy.
Mills said deputies do have a potential suspect, but would not comment further.
