UA teams ranked, 1st time since 1998

FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas’ women’s basketball team has joined the UA men’s team in The Associated Press top 25 poll after both teams opened the season 6-0.

It’s the first time Arkansas’ men’s and women’s have ranked at the same time since December 1998.

The Razorbacks women’s team, which beat then-No. 17 Iowa 76-66 last Friday in Las Vegas, is tied for the No. 25 spot with DePaul in Monday’s AP poll.

Arkansas’ men’s team moved from No. 25 to 18th in the AP poll after going 3-0 last week with victories at SMU and at home against North Texas and Iona. The men were ranked No. 21 in Monday’s USA Today coaches’ poll after previously being unranked by the coaches.

The Razorbacks women are ranked for the first time since the first week of January in 2013.

Arkansas is one of nine schools with teams in both the men’s and women’s AP polls. The others are Kentucky, Texas, North Carolina, Louisville, Duke, Maryland, Michigan State and West Virginia.
