Harrison mayor results certified amid questions

HARRISON — Boone County election officials certified Dan Sherrell as Harrison's new mayor despite questions about non-residents voting in city elections.

Sherrell defeated Jerry Jackson by 40 votes. Jackson's daughter, Missy Toliver, raised questions about who was allowed to vote.

According to the Harrison Daily Times, Toliver showed that three voters used business addresses inside the city on their voter registration cards despite living outside the city. Clerk Crystal Graddy said those voters have been notified they must use their residential address for their voter registration.

Toliver also said four people were allowed to vote in the mayoral race even though they showed addresses outside the city.

The Boone County Election Commission also said Tuesday that two voters had asked for paper ballots, saying they didn't trust machines.
