Thunderstorms will affect most of the state Friday

South-central Arkansas can expect to see some severe thunderstorms starting in the late afternoon and continuing on through the late evening, forecasters said Friday.

A large part of Arkansas will see thunderstorms this afternoon going on through the evening, the National Weather Service said.

The storms should not be very severe; however, the threat of damaging winds will affect people south of the line from Mena to Mammoth Spring, said John Robinson, warning coordination meteorologist for the National Weather Service in Little Rock.

The western half of the state will get about 1/2 inch of rain, and the eastern half will accumulate a little more than an inch, Robinson said.
