Arkansas-Texas to meet in bowl game

— Arkansas' first bowl game in three years will be against its oldest rival.

The Razorbacks will play the Texas Longhorns in the Texas Bowl on Dec. 29 at NRG Stadium in Houston. The game will begin at 8 p.m. and will be televised by ESPN.

Arkansas and Texas both finished the regular season with 6-6 overall records. The Razorbacks finished 2-6 in Southeastern Conference games, while the Longhorns finished 5-4 in the Big 12.

The game will be the third this season for Arkansas against a former Southwest Conference opponent in the state of Texas. The Razorbacks played at Texas Tech in Lubbock on Sept. 13 and against Texas A&M in Arlington on Sept. 27.

It will the second time Arkansas and Texas have played in the postseason. The Razorbacks beat the Longhorns 27-6 in the Cotton Bowl on Jan. 1, 2000.

Arkansas and Texas last played in 2008. They are under contract to play again in 2021 in Fayetteville.

The Razorbacks last played a bowl game in Houston in 1982, defeating Florida in the Bluebonnet Bowl.
