THE SKINNY: "We've got the beet" could be the theme song for Eat Well Embrace Life's new hummus.

Not only does the producer of unusual hummus flavors have the Beet, it has a new Zesty Sriracha Carrot variety joining its bold roster. Others in the line: Red Lentil Chipotle; Edamame Hummus with Roasted Red Pepper; Spicy Yellow Lentil Hummus; Sweet and Spicy Black Bean Hummus; Tuscan White Bean with Roasted Pine Nuts Hummus; and Wasabi Edamame Hummus with Ginger.

The white-beans-and-beets-based Beet, with a pickled beet topping, is not only quite interesting, it's a pretty pinky-purple color. The sunny white-beans-and- carrots-based Zesty Sriracha Carrot, accented with a sprinkling of sunflower seeds and apricots, also is lively and lovely.

Both are pleasing to the palate and, well, palette.
