LR teen soughtin girl's shooting

Little Rock police Monday identified a suspect in the shooting of a 14-year-old in front of an elementary school last week.

Police said they are looking for Kevin Blackmon, 18, of 3116 Bishop St. in Little Rock. Blackmon has warrants out for his arrest on felony charges of first-degree battery and unlawful discharge of a firearm from a vehicle.

Officers responded to a reported shooting about 8:30 p.m. on Dec. 2 at Wakefield Elementary School, 75 Westminister Drive.

A 14-year-old girl was shot in her abdomen and the bullet exited through her lower back, police said. She was transported to Arkansas Children's Hospital.

Blackmon is suspected to be in possession of a silver and black .45-caliber handgun, which was the weapon used in the shooting, police said.

Police lose track of stolen Mustang

A Little Rock man got away after leading police on a high-speed chase in a reportedly stolen Ford Mustang on Monday, according to a police report.

Officers chasing the Mustang were going faster than 120 mph, police said.

Police responded about noon to reports of a stolen brown Mustang parked at Superstop, 7300 S. University Ave. When the driver pulled out of the parking lot, police initiated a traffic stop.

The pursuit started after the driver refused to pull over, police said. Two patrol cars chased the Mustang about 10 miles to the intersection of Bankhead Drive and Frazier Pike, where police lost sight of the vehicle.

Police said a front seat passenger threw a gun out of the window as the Mustang crossed the bridge at Springer Boulevard and Interstate 440. Officers searched the area but determined the gun landed in the water.

Police identified the driver as Tearbrey Anderson, 23, of 3117 Zion St. in Little Rock. Anderson is wanted on charges of leading a pursuit and fleeing from police, according to the report.

Shot in head, man is able to call 911

A man called 911 Sunday after being shot in the head at his home, Little Rock police said.

Police responded to the home at 5 Duval Circle about 5:40 p.m. Sunday and heard a resident, 41-year-old Jose Martinez, calling for help.

Officers kicked in a window and climbed into the house, where they found Martinez lying face up with a gunshot wound on the right side of his head, according to a police report.

While being treated, Martinez mumbled a name that sounded like "Rodrigo Arvo," police said.

Martinez was taken to CHI St. Vincent Infirmary with life-threatening injuries. His condition was unknown Monday.

Two with gun rob LR Dollar General

Police are looking for two men after a Dollar General store was robbed Sunday.

Officers responded to reports of a robbery in progress at Dollar General, 9500 Satterfield Drive, about 2 p.m. When they arrived, a witness told police the robbers had fled from the store and climbed the fence of nearby Towne Oaks Apartments, according to an police report.

Police searched the area but did not locate the men.

An employee, Charteshia Cox, 23, told police that one of the men had a semi-automatic handgun and wore a camouflage-patterned ski mask, and the other had a hood up and was unarmed, according to the report.

Cox said she ran to the back of the store when they entered the business.

Another witness, Ariel Danley, 29, told police one of the men pointed a gun at a patron and asked where the employees were before both suspects fled the store.

They took a computer, according to the report.

Pawner of violin returns, is jailed

A Perryville man was arrested Sunday after a pawnshop reported that he was trying to sell stolen musical instruments, according to police.

Little Rock police responded to the Pawnderosa Pawn Shop at 6416 Colonel Glenn Road, about 3:30 p.m. According to police, the man had recently pawned a violin and was attempting to pawn similar stolen items.

During a search of the suspect's vehicle, officers found a digital scale, a loaded syringe and methamphetamine, police said.

Police arrested Nicholas Michael Oaks, 25, on charges of theft by receiving, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of methamphetamine. The Pulaski County sheriff's office also charged Oaks for felony theft by receiving in connection with the pawned violin.

The violin was reported stolen from Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 27025 Kanis Road, sheriff's office spokesman Lt. Carl Minden said.

Oaks remained in Pulaski County jail late Monday. His bail was set at $8,500.
